#Reverb10 – Day 31 (Core Story)

31 Dec

December 31 – Core Story What central story is at the core of you, and how do you share it with the world? (Bonus: Consider your reflections from this month. Look through them to discover a thread you may not have noticed until today.)

At my core, you’ll find someone who is bubbly, friendly, and sometimes crazy (in a good way). For most when they meet me, I’m very quiet, mainly to assess you as a person but get to know me and we can be the best of friends. I honestly have a huge heart with all the love in the world. When I get close to people, I begin to think of them as family. I even call some of my friends’ parents mom and dad (no lie).

Over the past month, I’ve realized how lucky I am when it comes to the people I surround myself with. Although I won’t be ringing in the new year with my best friends (one is work and the other two are in other cities), I’ll be with friends and couldn’t ask for anything better. My friends are what make me and help me make the right decision, even when I want to make the wrong one. Those I’ve grown up with, attended college with or converse with daily on Twitter, thank you for such an amazing year. I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to make me smile & relate to me on a daily basis. 2011 isn’t ready for us :)

#Reverb10 – Day 30 (Gift Prompt)

31 Dec

December 30 – Gift Prompt: Gift. This month, gifts and gift-giving can seem inescapable. What’s the most memorable gift, tangible or emotional, you received this year?

Sorry this prompt gets too personal along with some drama.

#Reverb10 – Day 29 (Defining Moment)

31 Dec

December 29 – Defining Moment Describe a defining moment or series of events that has affected your life this year.

For this prompt, I should say graduation but my defining moment actually came about a week and half after graduation (I believe). I was taking my brother into the oral surgeon and I got a phone call from someone at MTV. Since the building had horrible service, I went out into the 90 degree weather and as I learned that I had been chosen for the TJ contest, let’s just say I was jumping up and down. Thinking back on it, I can only imagine the people in the office building must have thought, “who is this crazy girl in a dress jumping up and down in parking lot when it’s so hot out?”

The amount of excitement I had made it very hard to not tell people I had been chosen. So many of my friends who heard about the contest texted, IMed, and Facebooked me saying I should try and join to win. Little did they know MTV had basically stalked me and chose me to be part of the top 20. To be recognized by MTV is just amazing within itself. When I first started looking into PR, my dream job was actually at MTV and putting together the VMAs. Who knows maybe that will happen one day. Thanks to MTV & this contest I was able to meet some amazing people who I absolutely love.

By MTV realizing my potential in social media, it has made me realize I made the right choice to join Twitter and “meet” new people every week. When I initially signed up for Twitter, it was just very random and following a lot of celebrities. Now I know its potential and see mine.

#Reverb010 – Day 28 (Achieve)

31 Dec

December 28 – Achieve What’s the thing you most want to achieve next year? How do you imagine you’ll feel when you get it? Free? Happy? Complete? Blissful? Write that feeling down. Then, brainstorm 10 things you can do, or 10 new thoughts you can think, in order to experience that feeling today.

I’m going to do half of this prompt. In 2011, I’d like to achieve the satisfaction of knowing that after thinking about my career, I’m at a place that I love 110% and never could imagine leaving. This of course would be my dream job and while particular job instantly comes to mind, I know the criteria of what my dream job entails and right now that’s all I can ask for.

#Reverb10 – Day 27 (Ordinary Joy)

31 Dec

December 27 – Ordinary Joy Our most profound joy is often experienced during ordinary moments. What was one of your most joyful ordinary moments this year?

Just couldn’t come up with an ordinary moment. Sorry.

#Reverb10 – Day 26 (Soul Food)

27 Dec

December 26 – Soul Food What did you eat this year that you will never forget? What went into your mouth & touched your soul?

Hmm I’m not really sure I tried anything new this year. I tend to stick to what I know I’ll like to eat.

#Reverb 10 – Day 25 (Photo)

27 Dec

December 25 – Photo – a present to yourself Sift through all the photos of you from the past year. Choose one that best captures you; either who you are, or who you strive to be. Find the shot of you that is worth a thousand words. Share the image, who shot it, where, and what it best reveals about you.

This picture definitely describes who I am. As the TJ contest came to an end, all of those who weren’t in NYC came in for the finale. I got to meet up with them and we all instantly clicked. Seriously I love these people and am so glad I got to meet them. Ironically there are a few that I already shared common friends with just from us being awesome I’m guessing.

#Reverb 10 – Day 24 (Everything’s OK)

27 Dec

December 24 Prompt – Everything’s OK What was the best moment that could serve as proof that everything is going to be alright? And how will you incorporate that discovery into the year ahead?

The best moment in 2010 that showed me that everything is going to be OK is actually two separate moments.

First is my college graduation. After17 years in school I’m finally done and I never thought I would see the light at the end of the tunnel. Through college, I had many breakdowns from all my stress and during my senior year would have 13+ hour days. Never did I think I wouldn’t be running around to meetings and eating in the registrar’s office twice a day anymore. To be honest, I kind of miss the life of being and keeping busy all day every day. Plus my naps didn’t hurt either. ;)

My other moment of knowing everything was going to be OK, was my last day at CJP. I sent an email to a few of my closest PR friends and after talking to some of them I knew I would find something. One friend told me flat out this is probably the best thing that could happen. I realized what my overall PR passion was and I’m still young enough in my career to switch over.

Now I’m ready to make 2011 all about making my goals come true. Try and stop me :)

#Reverb 10 – Day 23 (New Name)

27 Dec

December 23 – New Name Let’s meet again, for the first time. If you could introduce yourself to strangers by another name for just one day, what would it be and why?

I’m not sure if this counts, but I would introduce myself as Yvonne. It’s my middle name and also my grandmother’s name. On my left ankle, I have it tattooed and I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to convince people that’s actually my name.

#Reverb10 – Day 22 (Travel)

27 Dec

December 22 – Travel How did you travel in 2010? How and/or where would you like to travel next year?

Besides many trips to NYC, my only trips this year were to Boston & Rhode Island. In February, I went to my only PRSSA Regional Activity held by Boston University’s PRSSA. From just one day I met so many amazing people like Rachel Sprung and learned so much. Rach, all your planning with Chelsea seriously paid off. It was great event & I wish I could participate in next year’s event.

At the beginning of June and October, I ventured up to Rhode Island to see my favorite redhead, Emily. In June, it was by car, and I didn’t even think my car would make it there and back. Then in October, just because I missed her, I took another trip up to see Em and had tons of fun (minus the horrible cold I got).

In 2011, I’m hoping to travel to a few cities to see a few people.

  • Boston- to see Rachel
  • DC- to see Rachael, Steph & Mara
  • Chicago- to see Sarah, Amanda, Samantha & other peeps out there
  • Arizona- to see my best friend that lives right outside of Phoenix
